Throughout my residency years in London’s Imperial College and my career in Biotech Medical Affairs, I developed a strong interest in patient-centric medical information.
Our patients are on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other media channels, looking up their condition, weighing their treatment options and searching about us, our practice, our clinical approach and our reviews from other patients.
Sadly, we are not where our patients are. Physicians do the good work but have no time or expertise for social media. As a result, a great gap exists between the patient and their treating doctor, allowing space for self-proclaimed experts, charlatans and social media opportunists to reach and misinform the vulnerable public, often with catastrophic results such as the recent measles outbreak in the United States.
I founded PHARMED with one purpose in mind: To amplify the voice of the individual physician and medical practice on social media channels and enable the responsible, credible science to reach our patients.
